The tower and terminal, for those familiar with the airport today, was then located along Keehi Lagoon. Today FedEx and UPS have their cargo facilities in this     approximate location and the area is   called Lagoon Drive. The docks in the background were intended to service     seaplanes, which they did primarily for  the many Navy seaplanes during the war, but post-war Pan Am dropped seaplanes for the more powerful and profitable       B-377 Stratocruisers. Local inter-island carriers went to the workhorse DC-3's.
